Maikel Franco (3B-PHI) - Franco is off to a nice start in what he hopes is a permanent big league promotion. He went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Tuesday's game and is now batting a solid .350/.381/.650 in 20 at-bats. Franco is coming off a disappointing 2014 that saw him post a .727 Triple-A OPS following by a .179 BA in 16 games with the Phillies. This year however, he was batting .355/.384/.539 in Triple-A prior to his recall, so something is obviously clicking. He did have a low 5.3% BB% in Triple-A, so there are likely to be some struggles soon, but he also has the ability to adjust. Right now I'd rather spend $4,400 on Franco in DraftKings leagues than $4,900 on Todd Frazier for example.
Billy Hamilton (OF-CIN) - In a move that was all but inevitable, Hamilton was moved to the bottom of the order on Monday and in interleague action, found himself hitting ninth on Tuesday. He's batting just .211/.260/.331 though he does have a surprising three homers and a less surprising 17 stolen bases. The Reds at least have to be considering demoting him to Triple-A to work on his approach, but they've yet to even hint at that possibility publicly. On the plus side, Hamilton is actually striking out less and walking more than last year, but a BABIP in the .245 range is pulling down his BA. With his speed, Hamilton shouldn't having an issue posting a BABIP well above .300, so we just have to hope the move down in the order takes some of the pressure off.
Yasmany Tomas (3B-ARI) - So far so good for the Diamondbacks' big offseason acquisition. Tomas was 2-for-3 with a double and walk Tuesday, lifting his slash line to .342/.390/.434. We've yet to really see the power however, as Tomas has just one homer in 76 at-bats to go with six walks. Tomas though has nine hits now in his last four games and he should eventually develop 20-homer power. Jake Lamb is going to be back soon, perhaps meaning Tomas moves to the outfield, but Arizona really needs to put him at one position and leave him there. He's probably valued correctly at $4,200 in DraftKings leagues, but once the power comes, that will creep up.
Hector Olivera (3B-LAD) - Visa now secured, Olivera is officially a Dodgers after signing his six-year deal on Tuesday. Rumors of impending Tommy John surgery appear to be unfounded, so Olivera will likely work out in Arizona a bit before joining Triple-A Oklahoma City go get himself acclimated. Olivera doesn't have much of a path to regular playing time given the depth the club has in the infield, but it does seem likely that he'll slot in at 2B or 3B next year given the impending free agencies of Juan Uribe, Jimmy Rollins, and Howie Kendrick. At the plate, Olivera is a bit of a mystery, but with a $62 million investment, the Dodgers will likely find room. As for 2015, it's probably going to take an injury and/or a trade or two for Olivera to have significant value.
Francisco Liriano (SP-PIT) - Things got ugly quickly for Liriano against the hot Twins on Tuesday. After allowing a run in the first inning, Liriano got popped for six more in the second before being pinch-hit for in the bottom of the inning. The outing took Liriano's ERA from 2.96 to 4.15, and left him with an 8.80 ERA in his last three starts. Liriano still has a respectable 52:21 K:BB in 47.2 innings, so maybe we can chalk this up to "just one of those games". Liriano probably should be benched for at least his next start given his recent struggles.
