Corey Dickerson-Rockies-OF
Corey Dickerson went 2-5 with a HR, 4 RBI, and a run scored. Dickerson starts off 2015, just like he ended 2014. Dickerson's power is legit, evidenced by his 104 BBS and 405 average distance on home runs. He does have drastic home/away splits, but that only is a factor in H2H leagues. You would like to see Dickerson hit higher than 6th in the order so that he can accumulate more counting stats, but we won't be complaining if he continues to hit around .300 with power.
Wil Myers-Padres-OF
Wil Myers was 0-3 with a run scored. The interesting and most fantasy relevant part of Opening Day for Myers was that he hit leadoff. He does not profile as a leadoff hitter and it will be interesting to see how long they leave him there. It will increase his run scoring ability, while bringing down his run production. Myers has made 75% and 76% contact over his first two years, which is below average and limits his BA potential. Myers is at a critical point in his career, and fantasy owners aren't sure what to expect from him in 2015. At this point he remains more potential than production.
Nolan Arenado-Rockies-3B
Nolan Arenado filled the box score on Monday by going 3-4 with a HR, 3 runs scored, and 4 RBI. Arenado is on his way to becoming one of the top two-way players in the game. Both his power and average are legit, so if Arenado can stay healthy, he should challenge for the top spot at 3B this year. There is a lot to like about Arenado in 2015.
Johnny Cueto-Reds-SP
Johnny Cueto continued his dominance Monday by throwing 7 innings of shutout ball with 10 strikeouts. Cueto stayed healthy in 2014 and posted his best season to date. Cueto has become quite good at using his great control to induce weak contact and strikeouts. His stats will not always match his peripherals, which have some pundits calling for regression, but don't be worried, he is the real deal.
DraftKings Value Play
Tyson Ross-Padres-SP
There is a lot to like about Tyson Ross. He owns an 8.97 K/9, and a 57% GB rate. Ross primarily uses two pitches, his two-seam fastball to get ground balls and his slider, which has a 23% swinging strike rate (excellent). Ross gets matched up against the Dodgers, but early in the season Dodgers Stadium plays fairly neutral and Ross has been one of the games better pitchers over the past two seasons. Ross also does not have any platoon issues and his price makes him an excellent second starting pitcher or value play. Draftkings value: $7,900.
