Steve Cishek, RP, MIA
Cishek blew the save Monday allowing a three-run homer to Daniel Murphy and is now 1 of 3 in save chances. While his ERA sits at 11.37, he does have 6 strikeouts in 6.1 IP and his 23.3 LOB% will certainly regress. For now Cishek is probably worth holding onto based on his track record, but a couple more rough outings in the near future could have the Marlins thinking about a change in the closer role.
Jason Hammel, SP, CHC
Hammel was dominant against the Pirates on Monday, throwing 8 shutout innings, with 7 K's, 0 BB's and only 4 hits allowed. His ERA lowered to 3.55 while his xFIP now sits at an excellent 2.95. Hammel now has 23 strikeouts and only one walk in 25.1 IP this season, which bodes well for success if he can keep those numbers up. He had a lot of success in his last stint with the Cubs, posting a 2.98 ERA in 17 starts for Chicago last year. Interestingly, his BB/9 during that time was 1.90, the lowest of his career, so maybe there's just something about Chicago that helps Hammel pitch well. So far this year, the peripherals back Hammel, but remember this is still a pitcher with a career 4.61 ERA, so there could be some rough outings ahead.
Justin Morneau, 1B, COL
Morneau went 2-3 with a 3-run homer on Monday raising his seasonal slash line to .297/.338/.438. He is now 7-13 in his last three games after a slow start to the season. Morneau is unowned in many fantasy leagues, probably due to his cold start, but he led the NL with a .319 BA last year and there's no reason he can't come close to that mark again. He has always maintained high contact rates and this year has been no different, with 5 K's through 68 PA's. While he benefitted from a high BABIP last season, that should remain the case as long as he is with the Rockies. As a player who can hit .300 and approach 20 homeruns, Morneau may be a bit undervalued.
A.J. Pierzynski, C, ATL
Pierzynski went 1-3 with 2 RBI and is now slashing .378/.405/.676 through 42 PA this season. While he won't likely keep up that pace, he does have a career .282 average and 11.2% K%, so there a good chance that he continues to help in that category. He has been splitting the catcher duties thus far with Christian Bethancourt, but with Bethancourt struggling, Pierzynski may get extra playing time which would give him an excellent chance of reaching double-digit homeruns. With the catching situation rather weak right now, Pierzynski is worth considering in most formats.
Todd Frazier, 3B, CIN
Frazier has shown that his power surge from last season was no fluke as he has begun 2015 with 5 homers, 14 RBI, and an .866 OPS through 17 games. He and the Reds take on the Brewers at home on Tuesday and will face right-hander Kyle Lohse. The right-handed Frazier has shown more power against righties over the past couple years, hitting 29 of his 34 homeruns since 2014 against them. He also has hit 24 of those 34 homeruns in Cincinnati, a place where he is hitting .313/.361/.750 in 8 games so far this year. Frazier's price is therefore very reasonable for one of the top 3B in the game. Value Play Fanduel Salary: $3,400.
