Josh Donaldson, Toronto Blue Jays - Donaldson has been feasting on the Braves pitchers over the first two games of the series launching three homers including a walk off blast in the 10th Saturday. He's finally providing some of the power we all expected with the move to Toronto this offseason. Despite the lack of power until the last two games, Donaldson was still a very valuable 3B option with a .340/.396/.596 triple slash and now totaling 12 RBI. With multi-hit efforts in four of his last five, he's well on his way to having another MVP type season. Enjoy the ride.
Stephen Vogt, Oakland Athletics - Fresh off his two homerun game Friday, Vogt turned in another solid performance Saturday with two hits and one RBI pushing his average to .368 on the year. The most intriguing part about Vogt is he likely is now eligible at catcher in your league, as he just received the 10 game eligibility requirements for standard ESPN leagues. His one downfall is that he has more value in daily leagues where you can bench him against lefties due to his steep right/left splits. Against righties he owns a career slash of .270/.316/.428 while lefties stifle him to a .206/.254/.381 slash line. Even this year he has gotten off to an even more dramatic spilt albeit it being because of his really hot start against righties at .367 so far. If he's available he's worth an add especially those who can use him at catcher.
Clay Buchholz, Boston Red Sox - Buchholz was a tough luck loser Saturday allowing just two runs over six innings against the Orioles. It was great to see him bounce back with his command lasting just three innings in his last start, walking just one batter Saturday against seven punchouts. Buchholz is one of the hardest pitchers to gauge, as he has a lot of absolute gems combined with a ton of disasters. His next start comes against the Rays next week whom he has a current .226 average against but he does have 16 walks against the current roster. If you drafted Buchholz as one of your higher starters you will be starting him regardless, but if not you might want to consider skipping a start for him.
Wade Davis, Kansas City Royals - With the Royals placing closer Greg Holland on the disabled list Davis is going to take over the closers' role for the next few weeks. Davis already has recorded one save this year along with picking up two wins out of the pen. Unlike most closer injury situations, there's a high likelihood that he isn't even available for you to pick up. Last year he was worth 3.0 fWAR out of the pen, and is an elite option for leagues that reward holds. If he is available though, he's an absolute must add as he will still provide great value even after Holland returns to the mound.
DFS - Garrett Richards, Los Angeles Angels $8,400 - This pick for Sunday is all speculative on Richards being fully healthy, as a healthy Richards like ranks 2nd or 3rd among starters on the day. Barring a day of setback Richards will be given the ball Sunday in his first start since injuring his leg last season. He does get a nice matchup against the strikeout prone Astros in his first start so he has a real chance to rack up some numbers right away.
