Devon Travis- 2B- TOR- Idea- Travis has been very hot in his rookie season. Against southpaws he has posted a .364/.417/1.000 slash line. This is despite a .250 BABIP. Last season Drew Smyly had a slash line of .262/.322/.441 and FIP of 4.24 against righthanded hitters. Travis has a good chance of keeping hit hot start going today. Huston Street- RP-LAA- Great Player- Street gave up a hit and struck out 1 in a scoreless 9th inning. He earned his 5th save of the season. After recording a career-high 41 saves last season and owning a 12.60 K/9 in the first month of the 2015 season, Street has to be considered in the top tier of closers.
Logan Morrison- 1B- SEA- Cold- Morrison is only hitting .176 after 14 games. This is primarily due to bad luck, with a .200 BABIP. He also has seen his GB% rise from 39.7% in 2014 to 51.1% in the early going of this season while his LD% has dropped from 23.8% to 13.3%. Those numbers are not likely to stay where they are. The Mariners appear to be patient, even with Jesus Montero hitting .352 at AAA Tacoma.
Wandy Rodriguez- P- TEX- FYI- Rodriguez will make today's start for the Rangers. He posted a 3.13 ERA in 23 Grapefruit League IP for Atlanta this spring but didn't make the team. Rodriguez made 2 starts for the Rangers' AAA affiliate at Round Rock. In his last start he allowed 3 runs and only lasted 2 IP. In an injury-riddled rotation, Rodriguez is a warm body.
Anibal Sanchez- P- DET- Hot- Some regression went on during yesterday's cold contest in Detroit. Sanchez allowed just one run in 6.1 IP on 1 hit and 4 walks while striking out 8. His ERA is not down to 5.79, still a significant difference from his xFIP of 3.79. Sanchez has only allowed a HR/9 of .29 and .45 in the last two seasons, so his 1.99 mark right now is an aberration.
