Rymer Liriano, San Diego Padres - It only took Liriano 13 AAA games before the Padres were convinced that he was ready for the big leagues and are calling him up to the majors. Over two levels, Liriano hit 14 homers and stole 20 bases while triple slashing .292/.364/.476 over 115 games. Liriano has had a great rebound season after missing the 2013 with Tommy John Surgery and will likely start for the Padres in the outfield as they wouldn't call him up just to sit on the bench. A knock on Liriano could be his swing and miss numbers, but his numbers in the minors are still lower than those of Javier Baez and George Springer who have both found success very early in their major league careers. He's lower than the prospects that have debuted before him such as Oscar Tavarez, Baez, and Springer, so temper your expectations but he's still worth a look in all leagues with his potential in all the counting stats.
Mark Trumbo, Arizona Diamondbacks - Trumbo's early season injury has derailed his excellent start, but he has been hot of late driving in nine runs over his last six games while picking up a hit in hit in each of his last seven (nine of last ten). His homer he hit Saturday was his first since April 21st in his last game before hitting the DL, as he returned on July 11th but it took him quite a few games before leaving the yard again. Trumbo has the power that is he gets hot, he could launch ten-plus homers over the rest of the season with ease as he gets fully healthy. Odds are that he's already been snatched back up in your league, but it's worth taking a look to see if he's still available.
Kolten Wong, St. Louis Cardinals - Wong continued his strong week at the plate with four hits Sunday, raising his average to .253. Wong has now picked up three or more hits in two of his last five, the first of which was a 3-for-5 effort with two homers. He turned around a horrible June with a July where he hit .284 with five homers and nine driven in, along with six stolen bases. Wong is turning himself into a valuable rostered second baseman with on base skills and average speed. At second base it doesn't take too much to be a solid fantasy player, and Wong has done just that since being sent to the minors earlier this year.
Casey McGehee, Miami Marlins - McGehee's stat line is one of my favorites in all of baseball as he is hitting .300 with 60 RBI and three homers. I secretly hoped McGehee wouldn't homer again this year and finish the year with 2 homers and 80-90 RBI but he hit his 3rd Sunday. McGehee has been great this year for fantasy owners in the average and RBI categories but has not driven the ball all year with a .079 ISO. I'll chalk up a large amount of the power drop to him playing in Miami as he hit double digit every year in Milwaukee including a career high 23 in 2010. It's amazing that he is doing all this with a 50% GB rate, but he's gone this long with his luck and it'll more than likely continue through the rest of the season.
Michael Taylor, Washington Nationals - Taylor received the call to Washington Sunday after hitting .385 in his brief stint in AAA. While Tayor may be ready for the majors, his time in Washington may be brief and only last while Jayson Werth is dinged up. Taylor though has been one of the best players in the minors this year launching 22 homers and stealing 34 bases in AA. Taylor's 22 homers are already a career high but the stolen bases are down from his 51 that he swiped in High-A in 2011. It's best to wait and see how long exactly the Nationals are going to keep him in town, but his power and speed potential is exciting for fantasy teams.
