Mike Carp -- With the acquisitions of Yoenis Cespedes and Jonny Gomes at the trade deadline, the Red Sox no longer had any need for Mike Carp and designated him for assignment this weekend. On Sunday it was reported that the Rangers had agreed to acquire him, and for a team sorely lacking in the offense depart, it might not take long for Carp to carve out some regular playing time. Carp had triple-slashed an extremely disappointing .198/.320/.279 with the Sox this year, failing to launch a single ball out of the park. That being said, he has very good raw power, and if there's ever a place for him to unlock that power again, it's Arlington in the middle of summer.
Wil Myers -- On Monday, Wil Myers is scheduled to take batting practice for the first time since sustaining a wrist fracture back in May. Assuming all goes well, he'll join Tampa's Triple-A affiliate to start working out on Wednesday and get into game action on Saturday. If that rehab stint goes well, he'll finally return to the Rays lineup around the middle of the month. Unfortunately, wrist injuries are known to sap power, and with questionable batting average skills (he was hitting just .227 before going on the DL this year), his fantasy value could be limited. Those who have stashed Myers or have owned him through this DL stint should consider trading him as soon as he comes off the shelf.
Jordan Schafer -- The Twins claimed Jordan Schafer off waivers from the Braves on Sunday. Though Schafer had been pretty awful at the plate for the Braves this year (.163 batting average and .256 OBP in 96 plate appearances), he still managed to swipe 15 bags. That kind of speed could be very useful to AL-only players if Schafer manages to get some playing time for the Twins. They have plenty of question marks in their outfield and lost Sam Fuld at the deadline. As a lefty who will have the platoon advantage against 70% of the pitchers the Twins will face, Schafer is absolutely worth a flier in deep leagues where you need speed.
Rajai Davis -- Davis went 2-for-4 with a double and a steal against the Rockies on Sunday. With the Tigers trading Austin Jackson at the deadline, Davis has assumed a full-time role in Detroit's outfield and the leadoff position in the order. That's a big deal in a lineup as potent as Detroit's, setting Rajai up as a must-own in all fantasy formats going forward. He's hitting over .300 for the first time in his career, and though he's more likely a true .275 or .280 hitter, he has elite speed and will score tons of runs.
