Alfredo Aceves -- With C.C. Sabathia being placed on the DL on Sunday, the Yankees have indicated that Alfredo Aceves is the most likely candidate to take his place in the rotation. It's been a few years since Aceves has been a reliable pitcher at the major league level, much less as a starter, so it's difficult to trust him outside of AL-only leagues. He will have Brian McCann to throw to in his starts now, and the most intriguing piece of this puzzle is that he'll face two very soft opponents while he's in the rotation: the Mets and Cubs, both in the National League without the DH. That makes him a worthwhile spot start candidate in deep mixed leagues and a must-own in AL-only formats.
Michael Pineda -- Yankees' manager Joe Girardi relayed some bad news in regard to Michael Pineda on Sunday: Pineda's initial 3-to-4 week timetable to work back from his shoulder injury is unlikely to be met. An updated timetable wasn't given, but this is obviously bad news for Pineda owners. Despite the whole pine tar debacle, Pineda had looked quite good in his return this season, and I'd be inclined to buy low on him where he's cheap. Between the injury concerns (founded) and the pine-tar-related skills skepticism (unfounded, in my opinion), he'd come very cheaply and would be worth stashing away.
Robbie Ray -- Ray turned in another impressive start on Sunday (at least on the surface), shutting the Twins out over six innings with 2 strikeouts and a walk. It's likely to be Ray's last start for a while with Anibal Sanchez due back from the Disabled List soon, but he'll be first in line for any future starts or rotation openings. Despite the impressive two starts, Ray isn't worth holding onto in anything other than AL-only leagues. He projects as a mid-rotation starter at best, throwing with average velocity and an inconsistent breaking ball. The upside just doesn't warrant a spot on mixed league rosters.
Casey Janssen -- The Blue Jays activated Casey Janssen from the Disabled List on Sunday, though he didn't make an appearance in their game against the Angels. Janssen had missed the entire season to this point with an oblique injury, but with Sergio Santos hitting the DL and the Jays' bullpen struggling, it shouldn't take long for him to regain a firm hold of the ninth inning, health permitting. He saved 34 games last year with an 8.5 K/9, 2.2 BB/9, and 3.09 xFIP, so he's a quality option in all fantasy formats.
