Welcome to the start of the 2014 fantasy baseball season! With Pitchers and Catchers reporting in a few short weeks, one of the ways I open a new season is by taking a look back at the previous one. Below is the link to the Historical Fantasy Values and some key indicators from 2014: https://www.insiderbaseball.com/Historical_FB_Values_2014.pdf
Always enjoy the blogs from all of you. Wondering something though. With Head to Head leagues becomming more popular, is there a specific draft strategy used by all of you versus a conventional rotisserie style drafting method. Do the projection player rankings change for this style league? Most leagues I'm in today are H2H. I don't see a H2H drafting method on the league set up in your drafting program with conventional categories of Ave, R, HR, RBI, SB, ERA, WHIP, W, S, K's.
Thanks
Head to Head is usually covered well by using either the Rotisserie Scoring categories or the Fantasy Points scoring categories in the setup area of the software. Of course one is geared to a daily/weekly outcome and the traditional is geared towards a year end total. That of course does not change the player's projection in any way, however when all else is equal, what I recommend in Head to head leagues is favoring/drafting the consistent players.
Draft players that provide stability on a daily/weekly basis verses those that go through prolonged hot and cold streaks. Much like most football leagues (also head to head), consistency carries the day. Within the software we track and report player consistency through columns on the player projections pages labeled (DC - Daily Consistency and WC - Weekly Consistency). Sort to see who were the most consistent players last year, and use one of the icons (right mouse click) to designate these players on your wish list. You can also see their 3 year consistency in the Forecaster tab for the players.
