Nick Castellanos -- The Tigers called up top prospect outfielder Nick Castellanos when rosters expanded yesterday. It's yet to be seen how he'll be used, but it's been rumored that he could supplant the Andy Dirks/Matt Tuiasosopo platoon in left field and be the everyday starter. Castellanos is one of the better hitting prospects in all of baseball with a great swing and a quick bat. He projects as more of a batting average hitter but does have above-average raw power and hit 18 homers at Triple-A. He's worth stashing in deep mixed leagues in case he winds up starting and is probably already owned in AL-only formats.
Jim Adduci -- The Rangers called up outfielder Jim Adduci when rosters expanded yesterday. Adduci is 28 and just reaching the majors for the first time now, plus the Rangers' outfield is relatively full, but he has an interesting skillset that makes him worth watching or perhaps stashing in AL-only leagues. He triple-slashed .298/.381/.463 with 16 home runs and 32 steals at Triple-A this year. He started yesterday and went 1-for-2 with a walk, so it's worth monitoring.
Michael Choice -- The A's called up outfield prospect Michael Choice when rosters expanded yesterday. The A's have a relatively full outfield, but there should be some starts to go around between there and the DH spot, which has featured way too much Alberto Callaspo recently. Choice has improved his plate discipline a bit this year, but he still shouldn't be counted on for much average. He does have huge power upside, so he's worth grabbing in AL-only leagues to see if he gets enough at-bats to be valuable. Just keep in mind that Josh Reddick will be back soon, complicating the situation further.
Jemile Weeks -- The A's called up former starting second baseman Jemile Weeks when rosters expanded yesterday. Weeks had been playing both middle infield positions and some outfield at Triple-A, so he figures to be used as a super-utility man off the bench for Oakland this month. We've seen that he can be successful in the past, and the skills are definitely there, most notably speed and maybe a little average.
Jeremy Hellickson -- Hellickson, who was optioned to the minors on August 27 to work out his issues, won't have to wait the requisite days before a recall since the Rays transferred him to Double-A yesterday. That means he can be called up once the Montgomery Biscuits' season ends, which was yesterday. It's yet to be seen whether he'll go back into the starting rotation, but it does seem likely with the team losing faith in Roberto Hernandez.
