Ryan Ludwick -- Cincinnati activated Ryan Ludwick from the disabled list yesterday and immediately plugged him into the starting lineup. Ludwick has been out all year with a shoulder injury. He went 0-for-3 in his return, batting sixth in the Reds' order. It was an unimpressive showing, but Ludwick has great power and calls Great American Ball Park home, so he's worth an add in medium-depth mixed leagues for those who need home runs.
Cody Asche -- Philly rookie Cody Asche went 2-for-4 with 1 home run, 1 stolen base, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored in last night's game against Atlanta. Asche isn't an elite, high-upside talent in the vein of other recent call-ups like Christian Yelich, but many think he can be a quality starter. He won't excel in any one category, but he has solid power and decent speed to go with some batting average ability. He's stated off slow, but he's worth a flier in deep mixed leagues and all NL-only games.
Roy Halladay -- Halladay is set to begin a rehab assignment with Phillies' GCL team on Thursday after throwing a successful five-inning simulated game this past weekend. Halladay has progressed well since May shoulder surgery that some initially thought might end his season, but the Phillies believe that he'll only need two rehab starts before he's ready to rejoin the rotation, assuming he stays setback-free. Halladay was having a rough start to the season (following up a rough 2012 campaign) before hitting the DL, but he's still worth taking a flier on in deep mixed leagues.
Cody Ross -- Ross dislocated his right hip during Sunday's game, and he's now scheduled to undergo surgery today. This will end his 2013 season and could make him questionable for spring training next year. Ross finishes the year with a .278/.331/.413 triple-slash and eight home runs. He's safe to drop in all leagues.
