A sampling of today's prospect notes:
Pitchers
1 Archie Bradley ARI SP A 5 BB in 2 of his last 3 starts, but overall - 1.18 ERA and 11.0 K/9.
2 Gerrit Cole PIT SP A 7 shutout innings last time out. Results have been mixed, but #1 starter upside is there.
3 Jameson Taillon PIT SP A 9 ER in last 11 IP, so not on the verge of a callup at this point.
4 Zack Wheeler NYM SP A- 2.57 ERA over last 6 starts and a chance he's promoted by the time you read this.
5 Kevin Gausman BAL SP A- 7.20 ERA in 3 big league starts, so success may be delayed to 2014.
6 Dylan Bundy BAL SP A- Has been cleared to resume throwing, so surgery looks unlikely at this point.
7 Taijuan Walker SEA SP A- Has been up and down recently, but has the stuff to make an impact later this year or in 2014.
8 Anthony Cingrani CIN SP A- 1.15 ERA in 6 AAA starts but won't see CIN until someone gets hurt it seems.
9 Tyler Skaggs ARI SP A- One good and one poor start as he fills in for the injured Brandon McCarthy.
11 Trevor Bauer CLE SP A- 8 K in last start, but he's clearly in need of more seasoning given 4.63 ERA.
Hitters
1 Oscar Taveras STL OF A Out since 5/12 with an ankle injury. Shouldn't be too much longer, but MLB debut will have to wait.
3 Wil Myers TB OF A .422 with 5 HR in last 10 games - should debut once Super-Two arb deadline passes.
4 Byron Buxton MIN OF A .405 in last 10 games, has 26 steals, 7 HR, and is only 19.
5 Billy Hamilton CIN OF A .279 in May, .308 in June and drawing more walks. Back on the call-up radar.
6 Miguel Sano MIN 3B A Buxton/Sano could be the new Twins' version of Puckett/Hrbek, but better.
7 Yasiel Puig LAD OF A How's that for a debut? Dodger Stadium hasn't shook like that for years.
8 Anthony Rendon WAS 3B A- Back in Washington and should fill in most days at 2B for the injured Espinosa.
9 Christian Yelich MIA OF A- .171 in last 10 games, so no call-up imminent. Might be 2014 before we see his talent in MIA.
10 Mike Zunino SEA C A- .278 in last 10 games, so some signs of life there in what has been a disappointing year so far.
11 Travis d'Arnaud NYM C A- Now cleared to resume lifting weights, so that's progress. Unlikely to see MLB much before August.
