Here is a sampling of this week's 70+ prospect notes...
Hitters
5 Miguel Sano MIN 3B A Just re-hot right now and wondering if 1.179 OPS will get him to MIN in September.
6 Travis d'Arnaud NYM C A Foot injury should keep him out until mid-June. Injuries becoming a concern.
7 Christian Yelich MIA OF A- Just .231 with no homers after a huge spring. Still just 20 though.
8 Mike Zunino SEA C A- .259/.354/.648 and is going to push Montero to DH any day now.
9 Byron Buxton MIN OF A- .404/.514/.614 with 7 steals and I just have to move him way up on this list given draft status.
10 Anthony Rendon WAS 3B A- 3 hits in fist 15 ab's but also a 1:3 K:BB. Just not sure when or where we will see him in Wash.
11 Yasiel Puig LAD OF A- 1.010 OPS before a minor thumb injury. Still not sure what the org will do with him.
12 Nick Castellanos DET OF A- Slow start with a .630 OPS, but first HR came Tues and things could be looking up.
13 Xander Bogaerts BOS SS A- 23 K and 0 HR in 17 games, but also hitting .311 in AA at age 20.
14 Jorge Soler CHC OF A- .304/.396/.500 and should have as line on a starting spot no later than 2014.
Pitchers
11 Archie Bradley ARI SP A- Control could still use polishing, but a 35:7 K:BB in 23.2 innings is pretty good.
12 Julio Teheran ATL SP A- Has struggled, but the stuff is there for him to quickliy recover.
13 Danny Hultzen SEA SP A- 2.78 ERA and 26:5 K:BB in 22.2 innings. Polished enough to contribute now.
15 Carlos Martinez STL SP B+ Visa issues delayed arrival to 3/28, so he's just getting his feet wet now. Bullpen role in STL possible soon.
17 Anthony Cingrani CIN SP B+ Great first 2 MLB starts and could stick around once Cueto returns.
19 Jake Odorizzi TB SP B+ Scuffling at times with a 4.09 ERA, but a 12.3 K/9 in 22 innings is just fine.
21 Zach Lee LAD SP B+ 1.13 ERA in 4 GS and LA pitchers dropping like flies. Could be an opportunity later this year.
23 James Paxton SEA SP B+ Not a good start - 6.61 ERA and 17:10 K:BB in 16.1 innings.
24 Chris Archer TB SP B+ 22:8 K:BB in 20 innings and probably gets the next call over Odorizzi.
27 Allen Webster BOS SP B+ Spot start in BOS was impressive and he should spend a fair amount of time in the bigs this year.
