Oswaldo Arcia- MIN- Rookie- Arcia was recalled a day after being sent down. With Darin Mastroianni on the DL Arcia could get a chance to show how close he is to being ready for a full time major league slot. Baseball America had him as the 3rd ranked prospect in the Twins' organization. Arcia does what you want in an outfielder, getting on base and hitting for some power. He will turn 22 next month and projects to be a solid fantasy contributor when he is in the majors full time.
Matt Wieters- BAL- Stats- Wieters has a disappointing batting average of .209 right now, but that is driven by a .206 BABIP. He hit his second homer last night, keeping him on a pace for the mid-20s. Even though Wieters' average is near the Mendoza line his Batting EYE is at .86, far above his norm. If anyone is panicking over the low early average and you can scoop Wieters up, do it.
Steven Wright- BOS- Rookie- Wright has decided to branch out from comedy and will throw a knuckleball for the Red Sox. He was effective in the minors last year as a starter but will be a long man while he is with the big club, assumedly in between stand up gigs. Oh, it's not that Steven Wright? Hopefully this Steven Wright can still find a diner that serves breakfast anytime and order pancakes in the Renaissance.
Ubaldo Jimenez- CLE- Cold- Jimenez gave up 7 runs for the second straight outing. This time he did it in only 1.2 IP. Only 28 of his 59 pitches were strikes. Jimenez is showing no indications at this point of correcting the problems that have plagued him since coming to Cleveland. He is to be avoided.
Alex Gordon- KC- Hot- Gordon has a 12-game hitting streak and is hitting .375 for the season. This is primarily due to a .447 BABIP. Gordon has only drawn 2 walks and has a Batting EYE of .22. A correction is likely to come.
