C. C. Sabathia- NYA- Hot- Sabathia seems poised to finish strong as usual. Since 2005 he hasn't had a monthly ERA in September higher than 3.35. He has posted quality starts in each of his 2 games since coming off the DL and has recorded at least 7 Ks in each of his last 4 starts.
Evan Longoria- TB- Hot- Longoria went 2-for-5 with 2 homers, 2 runs and 3 RBI last night. This gives him 3 homers in his last 3 games and 9 in 157 ABs in his injury-shortened season. Longoria has slugged 5 homers in 75 ABs since coming off the DL this month. His Batting EYE since returning is only .21, as opposed to his career mark of .56. That explains why his average is only .253 since rejoining the Rays. It should come around to help make him more than just a power asset over the last month.
J. A. Happ- TOR- FYI- Happ evened his record at 10-10 yesterday but it wasn't the prettiest of games. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks while striking out 6 in 5 IP. Happ had walked a total of 5 batters in his previous 4 starts for the Blue Jays. He rolled his ankle covering first in the first inning and that may have had an effect on his performance the rest of the game.
Sam Deduno- MIN- Hot- It was alien body snatcher time in Minnesota last night. That's about the only way to explain Deduno's performance. It had to be a space alien who threw 7 scoreless IP, allowing just 2 hits, striking out 9 and walking none. That's the first time in 19 starts this season in the majors and minors that Deduno hasn't given up a base on balls. He needs to duplicate this feat or come close to it in order to a) show that he might have fantasy value after all and b) disprove the alien takeover theory. Or will it disprove it? Hmmm.
Josh Donaldson- OAK- Hot- Regression to the mean continues to work in Donaldson's favor. He went 2-for-5 with a homer last night, giving him a .351 average and .419 BABIP since he took over for the injured Brandon Inge. Donaldson's BABIP for the year is now up to .278, so he still has some room for positive regression.
