National League
29 Jerry Sands LAD 1B B+ Gets the call to help desperate offense and doubles off Tim Hudson in AB #1. Nice start.
31 Yasmani Grandal CIN C B+ .276 in the early going with 6 of 8 hits for extra bases. Also 0.50 EYE in first full pro season.
35 Dee Gordon LAD SS B+ .298/.333/.383 with 6 SB, but just a 13:2 K:BB, so obviously there's work to be done.
36 Jaff Decker SD OF B+ 12 XBH in 11 games has OPS at a nice 1.422. … and he's 20…and in AA.
38 Delino DeShields Jr. HOU 2B B .200 with 11:2 K:BB in 40 at-bats. Not surprising considering he's still pretty raw.
21 Simon Castro SD SP B+ Ugly start #1. So-so QS in start #2. Net is a 9.90 ERA.
29 Jarrod Parker ARI SP B+ 14 runs in seven innings over two starts qualifies as a slow start. May need all year in minors.
31 Arodyz Vizcaino ATL SP B+ 2.70 ERA and 10:2 K:BB in 10 IP over first 2 GS. #2 starter upside if he can remain healthy.
37 Rubby De La Rosa LAD SP B 1.80 ERA through 2 GS. He's the pitcher version of Jerry Sands as far as LA fans are concerned.
38 Trey McNutt CHC SP B Can't recall what his injury is, but remember reading that it wasn't serious.
American League
9 Wil Myers KC OF A- HRs in back-to-back games after a bit of a slow start. Not surprisingly is now an OF.
10 Desmond Jennings TB OF A- .300/.472/.475, but hey, the Rays have Sam Fuld and Matt Joyce, so no need for a promotion.
11 Chris Carter OAK OF A- Batting an ugly .156 through 12 games, but does have 10 BB, so he should be okay.
16 J.P. Arencibia TOR C B+ .919 OPS in first 42 at-bats, so he's in no danger of losing playing time anytime soon.
18 Gary Sanchez NYY C B+ .238 avg before being placed on the DL with an undisclosed injury. More when we get it.
4 Michael Pineda SEA SP A Boy has he looked good so far. Easily the Mariners' second-best starter NOW.
5 Matt Moore TB SP A 1 good, 1 bad start. Bottom line: 12:0 K:BB in 9.1 IP.
8 Jacob Turner DET SP A- Spectacular first 3 GS: 1.83 ERA, 20:3 K:BB in 19.2 innings. May see him in DET later this year.
9 Mike Montgomery KC SP A- Has rebounded from rough first start with 10 scoreless.14:10 K:BB in 15 IP.
10 Manny Banuelos NYY SP A- Four hitless innings in debut but now dealing with blister injury - not too serious of course.
