We'll call this one the "Brandon Belt Edition".... lots of good young first baseman in the big leagues already, with Belt and Freddie Freeman on the way and soon enough, Eric Hosmer.
I just got done watching Rubby De La Rosa thoroughly dominate the Mariners on Wednesday night. The Dodgers prospecdt struck out six over 5.2 two-hit innings, striking out Ichiro in back-to-back at-bats. He's a guy I'd target early in keeper formats.
American League
Eric Hosmer KC 1B AAA Not sure he's starting in AAA, but a late-season call-up is likely if he hits well again.
Desmond Jennings TB OF AAA Just 4-for-26 this spring and really needs to start strong in AAA.
Chris Carter OAK OF AAA Will play mostly left field in AAA. May need an injury at big league level to get many 2011 at-bats.
Dustin Ackley SEA 2B AAA Will open in AAA but he should be up by mid-2011.
J.P. Arencibia TOR C MLB Quiet spring but still in the mix for a large % of the catcher at-bats.
Michael Pineda SEA SP A On track for April 5 debut versus the Rangers. Very good upside as a No. 2.
Matt Moore TB SP A 2 guys have K'd 200+ in the minors the last 5 years - Moore and Francisco Liriano.
Kyle Drabek TOR SP A Will open in rotation but needs to impress quickly while Morrow is sidelined.
Martin Perez TEX SP A- If you've seen the Texas rotation, it has the potential to be rather ugly. Perez could get a look.
Manny Banuelos NYY SP A- Few prospects generated the buzz this kid did this spring. We could see him in the Bronx this year.
National League
Yonder Alonso CIN 1B MLB Hit .300 this spring, but still waiting for some power to develop.
Wilmer Flores NYM SS A+ Moving debut to 2013, as he'll probably need extra time to learn a new position (3B, LF, or RF).
Dee Gordon LAD SS AAA Rafael Furcal is a free agent after the season, but Gordon needs to improve plate discipline.
Yasmani Grandal CIN C AA Gets a very aggressive assignment to AA but still has Mesoraco ahead of him at AAA.
Jerry Sands LAD 1B AA 1.235 OPS before being optioned to minor league camp. Expect to see him in LA this year.
Simon Castro SD SP B+ Will open in AAA but there will be a spot in SD this summer if he's pitching well.
Casey Kelly SD SP B+ Move to the NL (particularly Petco) can only help his fantasy prospects.
Randall Delgado ATL SP B+ With Minor and Teheran ahead of him, Braves could look to deal Delgado.
Jenrry Mejia NYM SP B+ Will open in Triple-A and await word of a Chris Young or Chris Capuano injury.
Arodyz Vizcaino ATL SP B+ Has top-10 talent, but we have to worry about the state of his elbow until he proves us wrong.
