This is my swan song for 2010, the final version of the Prospect Spreadsheet updates. I hope this feature of Fantistics has helped you in your fantasy leagues this year, and moreso in the future as you build your prospect bench.
Should you have prospect-related questiions the rest of the way this year or next, feel free to email me any time at dregan@fantistics.com. Believe it or not, I actually respond to each and every question.
Here are this week's updates:
American League
2 Mike Trout LAA OF A "Just" .291 in the Cal League, so he could begin there in 2011 and reach AA by mid-season.
3 Jesus Montero NYY C A .350 with 11 HR in 140 at-bats since the ASB, but no sign he's getting called up this month yet.
5 Mike Moustakas KC 3B A Decent night on Monday - 3 HR, 11 RBI. Should contend for 3B job next spring.
7 Eric Hosmer KC 1B A- .316/.364/.621 in AA. Drawing fewer walks at that level, but nothing to be concerned about.
8 Desmond Jennings TB OF A- Will have limited role. Just .135 in last 10 games. 37 SB (in 41 opp) and a .363 OBP for the season.
1 Jeremy Hellickson TB SP A Returns as a RP for Sept. Should be part of 2011 rotation from the get-go once TB makes room.
5 Kyle Drabek TOR SP A 1.92 ERA in last 10 starts, but no indication he'll make a 2011 big league debut.
6 Mike Montgomery KC SP A Alternating good and bad starts. Should begin 2011 back in AA and just needs to stay healthy.
7 Jacob Turner DET SP A- 1.05 ERA in 5 Aug starts is a very nice way to finish. Could see DET next year.
10 Martin Perez TEX SP A- 5.80 ERA in AA ensures a return trip there next year, but 9.2 K/9 at age 19…impessive.
National League
1 Bryce Harper WAS OF A Look for him in the Arizona Fall League. Will he need a full year in the minors? Probably, but…
4 Domonic Brown PHI OF A Now sounds like he'll stick around in the big leagues, but will have to wait for 2011 to start.
6 Freddie Freeman ATL 1B A- Gets the call. .397/.497/.685 since the ASB through Sunday and a leg up on ATL 1B job next spring.
9 Logan Morrison FLA 1B A- .820 OPS, but just 1 HR in 119 at-bats may not lock down starting job next year.
10 Brett Wallace HOU 1B A- Not hitting much at all, so may need big spring to secure 1B job for 'stros.
2 Julio Teheran ATL SP A 6-7-2-2-2-6 in his last start and could make a run at the big leagues sometime next summer.
3 Aroldis Chapman CIN SP A Reportedly hit 105 on the radar gun in AAA. Even if that's a bit fast, he should be an impact RP now.
4 Jordan Lyles HOU SP A 4.37 ERA in 4 AAA starts but reportedly will not be called up this Sept. after all.
8 Tyler Matzek COL SP A- 6.2 BB/9 will be the focus next year as he looks to harness his elite talent.
9 Mike Minor ATL SP A- 22:4 K:BB in 18 IP over four starts is a nice way to break in. Should be in 2011 rotation come Apr.
