I hadn't seen the story of Adenhart's car crash before getting an e-mail from Anthony Perri, our fearless leader at Fantistics.
The story stunned me. It was only hours ago, possibly after Adenhart died, that I had written a blurb about him for today's report.
Nick Adenhart- LAA- Hot- Adenhart threw 6 shutout innings against the A’s last night, but they were not dominant innings. In four of those innings, Oakland got at least 2 baserunners, twice leaving the bases loaded. Overall, Adenhart gave up 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5. He has a lot of potential, but struggled in the minors last year. Don’t be surprised if there is a similar process this year and Adenhart ends up back at AAA when the Angels regain some of their injured starters.
I had watched the Angels play the A's on TV last night, paying particular attention to Adenhart because he had such potential and possibility as a front line starter. As one of my Facebook friends put it, it seems surreal. This friend was watching a repeat of MLB Tonight and their recap of Adenhart's performance while he was reading the story of the tragic car crash.
Prayers and condolences go out to Adenhart's family.
