Alfonso Soriano, of the Chicago Cubs, looks like he may be starting one of those famous hot streaks in which he can do no wrong. Soriano went two for four with two doubles on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Soriano is five for his last 12 with two homeruns and four runs batted in. Soriano didn't go on a rehab assignment after missing a month with a quadriceps injury and it now looks like he has gotten his timing back and it couldn't come at a better time. For the season he is batting .290 with 68 extra base hits (27 homeruns), 58 runs batted in, and 18 stolen bases. On another positive note, Soriano has started to run well, of late, so some stolen bases may come soon.
Carlos Beltran, of the New York Mets, is finishing strong. Beltran went two for four with a homerun, two runs scored, and three runs batted in, on Sunday, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Beltran is now batting .297 with two homeruns, 10 runs batted in, and three stolen bases over his last 10 games. For the season Beltran is batting .282 with 29 homeruns and 99 runs batted in along with 23 stolen bags.
Tim Hudson, of the Atlanta Braves, was magnificent on Sunday against the Washington Nationals. Hudson threw a complete game shutout to earn his 16th win of the year while scattering seven hits and one walk. Hudson also struck out six batters. This victory snapped an 0-3 streak over his last four starts. Hudson's next start will come against the Milwaukee Brewers in Atlanta next Wednesday. Go Hudson!!!
Mark Teixeira will not be the reason why the Atlanta Braves don't make the playoffs (if they don't). Teixeira is hitting .375 with two homeruns and 11 runs batted in over his last 10 games and he is batting .327 with 12 homeruns and 43 runs batted in over his 42 games and 165 at bats since joining the Braves. For the season the big fella is batting .308 with 25 homeruns and 92 runs batted in.
Josh Anderson, of the Houston Astros, had a huge day on Sunday in a 15-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The rookie outfielder went five for five with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Anderson is now batting .500 after his first 18 big league at bats. Anderson, who was batting in the number two slot on Sunday, will likely be rewarded with some more playing time, as a result of this outstanding game. It may be too late to get much value out of this guy but check him out, you may get a jump start on a big bargain for next season.
